An evening with fugitive images
I'm actually rather sad to be leaving the Waterhouse tonight as I've really been enjoying the selection of films we've had there, and I'm starting to feel rather at home in the bar!
Many of the films we've watched look at the changing landscape
of Hackney and most have referenced the history of social housing,
now with this evenings screening
we look at changes happening right on the canal and directly to the
future. I'm delighted that Lasse & Andrea (of Fugitive Images) will be
showing a brand new film based on the material they have been
gathering around their home on the Haggerston & Kingsland
Estate, as it is gradually 'shut down' ready for demolition, making
way for a new mixed dwelling combining luxury flats with
social housing.
Everyone who lives locally knows their project I AM HERE seen on
the previously boarded over windows of their block - but not
everyone knows the story behind this project and their other work -
tonight is your chance to find out about it. We will be screening
their film at 6.00pm then I will be in conversation with them from
7.00 - 8.00pm followed by a second screening.
As the previous nights have been so busy (and the boat only has 12 seats!) the Waterhouse have kindly given us a big extra screening room, so even if you can't squeeze on the boat you can see the films, so do join us.
