On my way along the canal to the press launch and I bumped into Lasse of Fugitive Images - seen here in front of their fantastic piece I AM HERE. Tonight at the launch we're showing their short film 'I know it is not a palace' ... The estate where they live and work is right opposite where the boat is moored tonight.
The boat is finally ready! Seen here briefly doing the floating equivalent of a twirl before setting off on her maiden voyage (as the finished cinema) for the press launch tonight. Much hard work from Studio Weave, Will and the sail makers went into the last minute dash for the finishing line today.
Team Studio Weave and Will on board - 'the puff' finally ready and fitted!
Despite my best efforts not to worry about the 'kit' for the launch on Friday night I found myself discussing them over breakfast today and having a flash back to many of our past projects as I tried to draw out the technical set up required on the back of a random envelope. It's not as bad as the TV swansong technical nightmare (I remind myself & include here for nostalgic reasons) but the addition of water and a boat certainly doesn't help ...
We're just briefing all the volunteers for the project - it's quite a squeeze and we're really testing the new seats!
End of a long hot day! Karen and I have been filming all day as the boat name goes on - in the back of each shot appear an increasing number of topless men, all adding things to the boat. Just in this evening the new seats - fold down of course.
Day 2 of the title painting - Will and Je turn the boat round for sign no. 2 and Karen & I begin to film Pete and Solly's progress ...
Pete Hardwicke starts work on the boat title, helped later by Solly Vaughan ... The original illustration they're adapting is by Jill Tytherleigh.
